This crop also has it's origins in military equestrian sport.
The short cushion similarly distributes a leveled blow and dampens it slightly, like the long-cushioned model. Thanks to the so-called 'balance handle', it can be so precisely applied, that, despite of the short cushion, it can be used on the more delicate areas of the body.
This cushioned crop is especially suitable for 'bastinado' or 'falaka' (whipping of the soles of feet).
That is why we call it the 'bastinado crop'!
