'The Improver' has it's origins in the American reformatories of the 19th century, where the behaviour of young people who had gone astray were going to be "improved". Typically it was used to spank the bottom of a person who stood bent forward and the strikes were administered from above as well as from the sides. The particularly severe effect of the extremely long swatter made it a greatly feared instrument! This strap develops an effect of it's own, which is generated from the transition of the flat swat to the round handle. The distinct oscillation of the thick and heavy leather makes this strap a perfect punishing implement for a hard spanking. We use our heavy English saddle leather in black for the production of the reformatory strap (please se additional information below).
