This Tawse is a reproduction of an original Tawse, which was used to spank the bottoms of naughty Scottish schoool boys until well into the 20th century.
It is sewn from two layers of very rubust leather, which has a severe effect when striking forcefully.
Please use with caution in the beginning!
Because of this Tawse's rigidness the strength of the strikes can be very precicely controlled. It is quite possible to administer mild slaps, although the teachers in Scottland would normally have applied the Tawse more forcefully.
For the production of this Tawse we use heavy English saddle leather (please see additional information below) in the following colours:
- black with black stitching
- bordeauxred (pictures will follow)
- mahagony with black stitching
- london with black stitching
Length of fingers approx. 22 centimetres
Total length approx. 45 centimetres
Width approx. 4.5 centimetres
Our heavy English saddle leather is an especially high-quality drum dyed leather and has a thickness of approximately 4,5 to 5 millimetres.
The surface is not covered with insoluble pigments, but natural, providing a particularly pleasant grip and feel.
Over time it becomes softer, rather than harder (in contrast to cheap belt leather, which turns hard and brittle after a while).
This leather benefits from a little dubbing from time to time; oil, however should not be used, as due to the naturally retained surface it could change the colour of the leather.
