If you know the old John Willie, Stanton & Co. comics, you will have seen this typical form of a paddle.
The Long Bat is a very slender paddle made from two thick layers of leather, which are sewn together . A slightly flexible inlay gives it the perfect intermediate position between very stiff and slightly elastic, so the paddle reverberates a little for a lasting effect.
The slim handle is comfortable to hold and allows easy handling from the wrist.
All edges are thoroughly rounded off.
For the production of the Long Bat we use prime bridle leather (please see additional information below) in the following colour combinations:
- black with black stitching
- black with red stitching
- bordeaux with stitching and edges in black (pictures will follow asap!)
- mahagony with stitching and edges in black
(please choose your colour option)
Length approx. 40 centimetres plus hand loop
Width approx. 5 centimetres
Our English bridle leather is an especially high-quality drum dyed leather and has a thickness of approximately 3,5 to 4 millimetres.
The surface is not covered with insoluble pigments, but natural, providing a particularly pleasant grip and feel.
Over time it becomes softer, rather than harder (in contrast to cheap belt leather, which turns hard and brittle after a while).
This leather benefits from a little dubbing from time to time; oil, however should not be used, as due to the naturally retained surface it could change the colour of the leather.
